Le Mayne

Idyllically rural, Le Mayne snuggles into the gentle green slope of a typically peaceful Correze valley.  The fields surrounding the 200 year old fermette are abundant with wild meadow flowers and dotted with fruit trees.  The view sweeping out from the house of wooded slopes and rolling green fields full of honey-coloured Limousin cows gives way to the lake and river nestling at the bottom of the valley.  In summer you cannot see another property from the house, although there are several mills and a Parisian lady's house in our hamlet.  The closest shops are in nearby Juillac and our nearest market town, Objat, is about ten miles.  Our closest large towns are Brive Le Gaillard and Limoges, the latter of which is large enough for its own airport. See map.

The fermette is built in the beautiful Perigord style and is made up of the farm house with its attached barn and a smaller separate bake house with outbuilding and chicken coops all set around a rear courtyard. The well outside the front of the farm house is fed by several natural springs that start in the meadow.   A short way down the drive stands the last barn, home to several pony traps, ox carts and an old tractor.
